WORD that a new takeaway had opened at the top of our road was greeted with great excitement in our house.

And when we saw its chic modern decor and fully-illustrated menu we were desperate to give it a try.

Thankfully out anticipation was rewarded with a lip-smacking meal.

My son chose the Suzhou special (£5.90). A tasty dish of duck, chicken and prawn in a yummy oyster sauce.

It was Chop Chop special curry (£5.90) for my husband, and the big chunks of chicken in a zingy sauce was just as he liked it.

My daughter and I shared two dishes. Chicken balls (£4.90) and beansprout with roast duck and BBQ pork (£5.90). The chicken was in a light crispy batter with a tasty sweet and sour sauce, while the duck dish was “delish”, with both meats tender and full of flavour.

The dishes all came with a choice of fried rice or really fine noodles. We had two of each, but added a portion of chips (£2), which was ample for four.
