BANKS o’ Dee boss Garry Welsh has warned his side they will have to improve their defending if they are to beat Inverurie Locos on Saturday.
The Spain Park boss takes his side to Harlaw Park for their Scottish Cup second round clash on the back of a nerve-wracking 6-4 win in the North Regional Cup first round.
Welsh said: “Maybe it’s a kick up the backside that we needed ahead of next week.
“We were off the pace from the very first minute and never got to grips with their midfield until late in the game.
“We defended poorly. There were guys running with the ball when they should have been passing it.
“It was a very poor performance.
“The players know that it’s not good enough.
“We scored six goals, but we conceded four and that concerns me. We made some changes at the back because we wanted some of the guys to get 90 minutes under their belts, but that shouldn’t have made a difference.”
The visitors took a shock lead inside two minutes when Matthew DAVIDSON capitalised on Mark Glashan’s poor back pass to slot the ball past Scott Forbes.
But Dee bagged two goals in the space of 10 minutes to turn things in their favour.
Richard STAINER levelled on 14 minutes when he headed home Myles Brownhill’s cross, before STAINER netted nine minutes later.
Forres restored parity on 30 minutes through DAVIDSON.
(Half-time: 2-2)
Two Ritchie TAYLOR strikes seemed to have sewn up the tie for Dee, but Forres hit back through a CAULFIELD double to set up a frantic finish.
However, the First Division side’s joy was short lived as CORSAR soared at the back post to head a Reid corner beyond MacDonald, before substitute Richard SCAIFFE made sure of the victory in stoppage time.
