A MAN was being treated in hospital today for serious head injuries after he was hit by a bus on Aberdeen’s Holburn Street.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man, thought to be middle-aged, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A police spokesman said although there was “initial concern” for the man, his condition was later described as “stable”.
The road was closed between Union Street and Great Western Road for around four hours while collision investigations were carried out.
The accident happened at 3.40am yesterday on Aberdeen’s Holburn Street.
One nearby resident said: “I heard some people speaking outside at 4.30 in the morning and I saw a blue flashing light.
“The road was taped off and the bus was within the tape so it looked like someone had been knocked over. The bus looked as though it was heading down to Garthdee.”
In another incident, a driver was killed on the A95 Craigellachie to Ballindalloch road.
The 34-year-old man was alone in a Mitsubishi L200 4x4 pick-up truck when it crashed with a green John Deere tractor.
Police had not named the man today but said he was from the Grantown-on-Spey area. The 56-year-old tractor driver was not hurt.
A detailed collision investigation was carried out at the scene and the stretch was closed for nine hours.
Insp Mike McDonald appealed for anyone who saw the crash or the vehicles on the road to get in touch.
On Saturday, a mum and her six-year-old daughter were taken to hospital after a crash on Aberdeen’s Westburn Road near North Anderson Drive.
The pair had been travelling in a silver Nissan Almeira when it crashed with a dark BMW.
The mother was thought to have suffered cuts and bruises while her daughter was treated for shock.
On Friday, two 14-year-old boys were taken to hospital following reports they were injured in an alleged incident on Granitehill Road, Northfield.
Their injuries were not thought to be serious.
