DONS winger Jeffrey de Visscher has been told he can forget any thoughts of quitting Pittodrie in January.
Dutchman De Visscher is threatening to leave Aberdeen if he doesn't get a more regular game between now and Christmas.
Manager Jimmy Calderwood confirmed he has held showdown talks with the player this week.
Calderwood said: “The main thing Jeffrey was told is he will only be leaving when we decide he can, unless his contract is finished.”
De Visscher will be in the Dons squad for tomorrow’s SPL visit to Celtic.
But he hasn't started a match since he was substituted during Aberdeen’s 2-0 defeat by Inverness Caley Thistle on the opening day of the SPL campaign.
The Dutchman claimed in a newspaper interview that he is too good to be stuck on the Dons bench.
“There is bad feeling, because in my mind I believe 100% that I should be in the team,” said De Visscher.
“One half against Inverness has cost me my place. I talked to the manager about it, but he could have taken a few players off because of the way we were playing.
“Nothing can be done before the next transfer window in January but I'm not the happy guy I was a few weeks ago.
“I’ve got my family here and they like Aberdeen, but if I'm not happy, which is the case, then you have to move on.”
Calderwood confirmed he read the interview.
“Jeffrey denied saying any of the things printed, but I'm not going to get dragged into a debate over that,” he said.
“If he wants to be with Aberdeen he is going to have to accept we work with a big squad.
“There will be disappointments because everyone wants to be playing every week.
“Jeffrey is good enough to play in our team every week, but he has to prove it every time he pulls on the shirt.”
