DONS winger Jeffrey de Visscher has been told he can forget any thoughts of quitting Pittodrie in January.
Dutchman De Visscher is threatening to leave Aberdeen if he doesn't get a more regular game between now and Christmas.
Manager Jimmy Calderwood confirmed he has held showdown talks with the player this week.
Calderwood said: “The main thing Jeffrey was told is he will only be leaving when we decide he can, unless his contract is finished.”
De Visscher will be in the Dons squad for tomorrow’s SPL visit to Celtic.
But he hasn't started a match since he was substituted during Aberdeen’s 2-0 defeat by Inverness Caley Thistle on the opening day of the SPL campaign.
The Dutchman claimed in a newspaper interview that he is too good to be stuck on the Dons bench.
“There is bad feeling, because in my mind I believe 100% that I should be in the team,” said De Visscher.
“One half against Inverness has cost me my place. I talked to the manager about it, but he could have taken a few players off because of the way we were playing.
“Nothing can be done before the next transfer window in January but I'm not the happy guy I was a few weeks ago.
“I’ve got my family here and they like Aberdeen, but if I'm not happy, which is the case, then you have to move on.”
Calderwood confirmed he read the interview.
“Jeffrey denied saying any of the things printed, but I'm not going to get dragged into a debate over that,” he said.
“If he wants to be with Aberdeen he is going to have to accept we work with a big squad.
“There will be disappointments because everyone wants to be playing every week.
“Jeffrey is good enough to play in our team every week, but he has to prove it every time he pulls on the shirt.”

“Jeffrey is good enough to play in our team every week, but he has to prove it every time he pulls on the shirt.” Fair enough comment but how can he prove it when hes lucky if he gets 10 mins at the end of the game! Play him JC!!

Blunderwood has lost the dressing room and the faith of his players...If he was to leave today no one else would employ him, maybe Cove Rangers. WHERE ARE YOU MR CHRITON STILL AWAITING YOUR EXCUSES FOR THE KILLIE DEBACLE.. Regardless of the Celtic result there is a large protest being organised for the Hibs game, the Dick Donald stand will be rocking to Calderwood must go..

Jeffrey, I'll personally pay your flight home. You are one of the weakest links (in a team of many) goodbye.

I couldn't agree more to what Willie Moir has said. I have not seen a performance from De Vischer worthy of competing with Derek Young on the right. He can't skin a man and is caught way too many times. Thus the reason, when I have not been at a game I ask you all if he played and had a good game. As for a LARGE PROTEST - count me (and the majority of fans that I know) out. Absolute rubbish, for once, I say GET BEHIND THE TEAM, don't try to get rid of the manager, just remember Steve Paterson.

Colin-I really dont think that will be the case at all, every Aberdeen fan i have spoken to is annoyed at the way we are playing but very few think its a good idea to sack JC. Anyone that is part of any demonstration at the Hibs game is a fool, and has a very short memory!!

Let him go, he is one of the slowest players ever to grace the Pittodrie pitch. I have seen nothing from him since he came here to suggest that he is a player who deserves regular football.

JDV is not great, as mentioned, Derek Young is a better player. As for the protest for the Hibs game, get a grip! Can't you see that half the problem is 'us' the so-called fans. When was the last time there was a full house? Don't bleat some rubbish about not going to support the team when they are down, cause it's times like this that they need you more than ever. If Aberdeen FC had a full house every home game we would win almost every single match we played, and by a few clear goals at that. Take note...

Our players have to prove they are good enough to play week in week out - why does Jimmy insist on sticking with Mackie then - he must be amazing in training and show something we never get to see on the pitch!!

This story is the first clear indication that Calderwood is in the process of losing the dressing room. I have every sympathy with JDV, always the prime candidate to get hooked on those rare occasions he gets a start (btw Aberdeen were worse in the second half v Caley). He is lacking only in one attribute - pace - and if he had that he wouldn't be at Aberdeen in the first place. He is a football player in the unfortunate position of having a manager who prefers to play kick and rush.

Hi Colin. I've been too down to respond and some of you guys make it worse. Frankly I'm considering whether I will renew my season ticket next year because I am tired of fighting a losing battle against people like you who for the last 15 years are killing AFC. Were you part of the protest to remove Alex Smith, Willie Miller, Roy Aitken, Ebbe and Car Boot Pele? DO you know how many millions we spent getting rid of these guys thanks to you? Apart from Alex Miller and Pele they were all decent managers and have either been successful in the past or gone on to be a success without facing the misery and negativity in the stands each week which the players can feel from the minority like you. Its people like you who would rather cut your nose off to spite your face that have left teams like Newcastle, Tottenham and Nots Forrest to be perennially unsuccessful despite spending much more than smaller more successful clubs. When we had a good run in Europe last year you could see the difference in the team because the fans had no expectations and were willing to support regardless and were far more patient, much like the regular away supporters who have less expectations and the players respond to that. Its basic psychology and sadly you will never understand that and throw everything I say back at me and bang on about getting your moneys worth. I don’t think I've got the energy to put up with it for much longer. It’s tiring enough supporting Aberdeen without numpties trying to organise a protest when the chips are down. Its really sad.

JEFF you need to pull your socks up a bit if you not getting a start, there is always someone bigger and better at whatever you do..Miller has a point to an extent but Calderwood is the man responsible for the KACK we see week in week out on the park, so I think he should get STICK for putting the KACK on the park. Its time these WANNABE`S on the park do their job not half hearted but give 110% and more if the can, give your manager some thanks for giving you the privilage to DON the RED & WHITE of the FAMOUS ABERDEEN,STAND FREE..

Paul-Dont give up, there are plenty of like minded dandies out there. While we are all disapointed in the season so far, we are not all idiotically thinking that sacking another manager is the answer(when you so rightly point out that it has been our downfall so often). Jimmy has done a great job since taking over and we all owe him the time he needs to get the 'new' team to gel and get us back on track(which he will), in my opinion he has not let us down the players have. Yes i dont always agree with his tactics and team selections but im not qualified to manage a top flight football team. Also certain people are saying that JC has lost the dressing room, what after a few games?Rubbish. The negativity gets me down too but thats just some people for you, there are people that have never liked JC, and that is there perogative, but alot of Dons fans do, and if there are people chanting for JC to go then ill just make my support for him louder!Stand Free

Lads, I completely agree. I would never take part in a protest and JC is definately the best manager we've has in a long time and deserves time to turn the results around. As for De Visscher, if he wants to spit the dummy and run to the press when he doesn't get a game, let him go! From what i've seen of him he doesn't deserve a place in the team anyway!

Haha Paul, incredible. It's alright to be truthful. You know your season ticket renewal has nothing to do with bad people booing. It's alright to say" I feel let down by JC and the team, I've been blind in my support and I now feel ridiculous with all these terrible results". I think you and your fellow sympathiser Andrew should just ignore all the neanderthals abusing your boys. It all be better tomorrow at 4 50pm............oooops it won't...there'll be individual errors and wounded animals everywhere.

nice to see you back Paul C; couple of days on the ostrich farm ? still bleating on about parallels to spurs, notts forest & newcastle, repeating the same thing over and over does'nt give our comments any more substance - you think aitken was a good manager ? - was there a protest to remove ebbe, i seem to remember it came out of the blue after 2nd defeat to partick

One thing that we can all agree on is that we are sick to death of the direction this great club is going,as stated before I'm not a fan of JC but we need to keep backing the team. The changes that are needed and have been for some time are further up the tree at board level.Stewart Milne claims to be a Dons fan .....absolute rubbish. Time we got shot of him once and for all and his lap dog "Willie" I have been very disappointed in some of his mutterings since joining the payroll at AFC, how times have changed Mr Miller.

Tavish my life wouldn't be complete without your banter. Let me know when you are next over from the ski slopes in Banff and we can put the world to right. I accept there was no protest to remove ebbe just murmerings so thanks for correcting me. I only class Aitken as a good manager because he won our last trophy. Admittedly I threw my scarf on the pitch at the dump in edinburgh when we lost to dundee united in the league cup as Aitken lost the plot but he is actually a really good coach and with time he would have been ok. The problem in those days was he had too much money to spend instead of coaching and nurturing which is what he is good at. JC is good at bringing out the best of average players. Its a talent we dare not lose, especially in this economic environment. We are close to a very succesful youth policy and that is thanks to Miller and JC. They are not short termist but in it for the long run to establish a solid foundation. Yes we will have bad times but any club only does harm through knee jerk reactions. You have to be mad not to admit that is the case.

PC, how very apt. This is no kneejerk reaction, I would have been delighted with the removal of JC last Christmas. However, he was rewarded with a million pound contract. This side has been regressing for 12 months now. If you can't see this then you're watching a different game than me.

Graham-You would have been delighted at JC going last christmas?? there really is no arguing with that type of logic at all, and it IS a knee jerk reaction, there wasnt any diddies calling for his head a few weeks ago, but now we lose a few games there are-Thats knee jerk!!

I am one of the anti Calderwood brigade and freely admit that I have always thought he is a numpty. His tactics and playing players out of position is bewildering at times! I remember a couple of years ago being completly outplayed by Falkirk at Todders and somehow we won with three goals all scored from long range, can't realy attribute that to the manager. Anyway he changed the formation three times in the first half!! I remember looking at Seve as he walked off at halftime and the poor guy didn't have a clue where he should have been playing!! Anyway all I have to say to the "Jimmy Must Stay Brigade" is how long do we wait? Already out of one cup.... playing terribly with no signs of improvement. You lot tell me when you would call time....

Andrew Mitchell Great minds think alike Sacking the manager would be the worst posible thing for AFC to do at all. Think back too 2003 all the loyal Dons Fans "THE WALKOUT" when we had two players fit over the age of 23 and the team were playing poor due to the ave. age of the squad being 20 and of course Paterson and some non-loyal Dons Fans were planning a massive walkout. When the Time came to walkout what happened the 4 fans who planned it walked out and what happened they made themselves look like idiots and the whole place eruppted into STAND FREE!!! Same again ??? Most Fans I know DO NOT want Calderwood to go like myself!!

Scotty. The problem is we have more negative comments than positive and its about time we balanced the scales. No one is saying you are not a true supporter but some of the comments from true supporters have damaged the club for the last 15 years and set us back financially with the board sacking managers left right and centre to keep the fans happy and even worse on some occasions ie Pele, listening to the fans on who to appoint.
