MOTORISTS are being driven to distraction by what could be the biggest pothole in Aberdeen.
The gaping hole, at the entrance to the car park at Aberdeen’s Berryden Retail Centre, measures around 60cm in diameter and is between 15 and 20cm deep.
And the large crater is causing trouble for drivers as they head for Mecca Bingo, and shops Rosebys and Toys R Us on Berryden Road.
The hole, which drivers must pass to get into the car park, has been there for months and has steadily been increasing in size, according to customers.
Christine Randell , store manager for soft furnishings store Rosebys, said that shoppers regularly complain about the large cavity in the road.
“I’m aware it’s there, so I avoid it,” she said.
“But for new customers coming in to the centre it’s not very good. It could do some serious damage to somebody’s car.
“A few people have come in and complained about it.
“You would have thought that somebody would have fixed it by now.”
Self-employed Aberdeen taxi driver Darren Milne, 31, said he regularly takes customers to and from the car park.
He said: “I quite frequently travel in and out of this place. It’s getting bigger and bigger all the time.
“You won’t see a bigger pothole in Aberdeen than that. Actually, it’s not a pothole at all – it’s a crater.”
Owner of the retail park, Railway Pension Nominees Ltd, was unavailable for comment.
