GEORDIE funnyman Ross Noble is bringing his surreal humour back to Aberdeen.

Comedian Ross Noble will play a stand-up gig on Tuesday, March 17, in his first performance at the Music Hall for four years.

Theatre bosses expect tickets to be snapped up when they go on sale.

Ross Noble – voted one of the top 10 greatest stand-ups of all time by Channel 4 viewers – is coming to the Music Hall in Aberdeen as part of his 2009 UK tour, Things.

The comedian said he’ll be covering the topic of “things” – big things, small things, things that have happened to him and things that have happened to the audience.

It sounds like a rich seam for the comedian to mine, playing on his surreal sense of humour in which anything can happen during a live gig.

At the Latitude Festival in Suffolk this year, he rounded off his set by leading the audience in a conga line to the vegan food stand so they could ask for pies and sausage rolls.

But for Ross, the feedback and input from an audience is crucial – and not one that he considers too risky.

“It’s like riding a motorbike” said Ross, a keen biker.

“You don’t think about falling off, you just think about how enjoyable it is.”

So how does he get ready for a spontaneous show?

“Check the mikes, change my pants, sit around chatting with my tour manager,” he said.

“Usually you look at your watch and go: ‘Oh, five minutes,’ then walk on stage.”

Ross has been performing since he was 15, after being smuggled into his local comedy club.

Licensing laws meant he had to leave as soon as his slot was finished – through the kitchen.

His career has rocketed since then, with sell-out stand-up gigs in the UK and Australia where he spends much of his year.

He became a familiar face through his TV appearances on shows such as Have I Got News For You and best-selling DVDs of his live act.

Tickets for his Music Hall gig will go on sale to Friends of Aberdeen Performing Arts at 9.30am tomorrow and to the general public next Thursday.
