Martin is a man on a mission

KEITH boss Martin Allan insists there are far more important factors surrounding the Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup final than the chance to finally win an elusive piece of silverware.
In Allan’s 12-year reign at Kynoch Park, Keith have captured every trophy competed for by Highland League clubs, except the Aberdeenshire Cup and newly- created Challenge Cup.
But when the Maroons face Huntly in Saturday’s final at Inverurie, Allan wants to lift the cup primarily so the club can get over the disappointment of last term’s trophy free campaign.
He said: “The Aberdeenshire Cup is a trophy that has managed to escape our grasp, so winning this one would be a little bit more special if we were to achieve that.
“But winning any trophy is extremely important, because we are an ambitious club.
“Last season was the first in a while when we didn’t win anything.
“That wasn’t good because we go into every season with the intention of trying to win a trophy.”
