Kevin’s Jags out to sting Maroons in Aberdeenshire Cup

BUCKIE boss Kevin Will insists his ever-improving side can take another step forward tonight by qualifying for a cup final.

The Jags have won only three out of six games so far this season, including defeats to rivals Deveronvale and Huntly.

But Will reckons his players’ performance levels are increasing all the time.

The former Inverurie boss is therefore confident his team can enhance their record by beating Keith in the semi-finals of the Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup.

He said: “We’ve taken a bit of time to get going, but we are starting to get there now.

“We are going into the game against Keith with confidence and we are well capable of getting through to the final.”

One man who Will believes can help Buckie to keep getting better is Donnie Munro.

The midfielder recently returned to Victoria Park after a spell with Peterhead.

Munro enjoyed a dream debut for Buckie, scoring twice in the 6-2 win over Wick, and Will expects plenty more goals to follow.

The Buckie boss said: “Donnie was outstanding before he signed for Peterhead and it looks like he has come back a better player.

“It was nice to see him get a couple of goals on his debut and that should help him settle in here.”

With Buckie not playing last weekend, Will attended the 1-1 draw between Keith and Huntly.

It was the first time the Buckie manager has watched the Maroons in action this season and he was impressed at what he saw.

Will said: “Keith will probably have a few personnel changes tonight, but they have a lot of experience mixed with some good young players.

“They are well organised and always play with a lot of passion.”
