Our reporter hits the streets for a star search

X FACTOR fever kicks off on telly tonight and the Evening Express hunted around Aberdeen to find fantastic North-east singing talent.
Our reporter Alison Rennie took to the stage in one of Aberdeen’s busiest shopping centres to start off the karaoke.
She persuaded Stephen Young to belt out Grease hit Summer Nights to the audience in The Mall Aberdeen.
The 37-year-old operations manager, of Newmachar, said: “It may not have cheered me up being a lamb to the slaughter, but as long as everyone else had a laugh at my expense it was worthwhile.”
Conor Reid, 16, of Stonehaven, also took to the stage to sing (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.
He said: “Singing in the Mall is a scary experience but it has brightened up my day.”
The city’s talent continued to shine when Jill Moir, 36, of Dyce, sang The Shoop Shoop Song.
The deputy head teacher said: “It has definitely put a smile on my face.”
Serena Cowe took to the mic and sang Band Of Gold.
The 37-year-old, of Portlethen, said: “I was just in shopping today and didn't except to end up singing.
“I used to sing quite regularly so this has cheered me up.”
Another star was Steve Sutherland, 32, a loss prevention officer, of Balmedie, who sang It Must Be Love – most famously recorded by Madness.
Steve said: “It has made my day, being able to work and sing to one of my favourite songs.”
Isobel Gall, 43, of Mid Stocket, sang Another Day In Paradise. She said: “Singing here has really brightened up my day. It’s been great fun.”
Razorlight fan Wayne Martin, 30, of the city centre, sang When I Fall To Pieces.
And Bethan Jackson, 14, and Victoria McConnachie, 13, of Turriff, got the crowd dancing with Rihanna’s hit Umbrella.
