Airline to cut flights taking off from Aberdeen
Concern over plans

MORE than 130 flights are being cut between Aberdeen and London over the winter months.
British Airways generally runs seven flights a day between the Dyce terminal and Heathrow.
At the moment, the seven daily flights add up to around 1,000 over the winter period.
But the airline is slashing 132 flights over the six months from October to March.
These will consist of 66 flights flying from Aberdeen and 66 from the London airport.
North-east Labour MSP Richard Baker said: “I’m extremely concerned.
“Taking away services between Aberdeen and London could lead to the North-east of Scotland being seen as being remote.”
Lib Dem Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce said: “Reducing services between North-east Scotland and London could have a very harmful affect on the region.
“If it is so much harder to travel to the North-east from elsewhere in the UK, it could deter companies from working in the region.”
A British Airways spokesman confirmed: “There will be 66 fewer rotations between Aberdeen and Heathrow, that is 132 in total.”
The cuts came after the firm announced an 88% fall in pre-tax profits for the first quarter of the financial year.
