FEARS of trouble from Dutch hooligans has forced the postponement of Friday’s friendly clash between the Dons and Go Ahead Eagles in Terwolde.

Jimmy Calderwood was this afternoon attempting to set up a match against different opposition to ensure the fans due to travel to Holland have a game to go to.

Dutch police had already ordered the sides to move the game to Friday night following trouble caused by Ajax fans in nearby Zwolle.

Calderwood admitted he was stunned to be told this morning that the game has now been called off completely.

A statement released by Go Ahead suggested they were worried the travelling Red Army might cause trouble, but that was immediately dismissed.

Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood said: “This has nothing to do with our supporters.

“We’ve been told by the Dutch authorities that they were concerned there might be trouble from the Go Ahead fans, who have a bit of a reputation.”
