The Cove midfielder, below, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the English Coca-Cola League One side.
Coutts was offered the move after impressing during trials with The Posh.
The Highland League Player of the Year is delighted to be joining Darren Ferguson’s side.
He said: “Since I was a young boy I’ve wanted to play football for a living so to get the chance is brilliant.”
Cove chairman Keith Moorhouse wished Coutts all the best.
He said: “We are disappointed to lose him, but he leaves with our best wishes.”
Coutts is back in Aberdeen and will watch Cove take on Strathclyde University at home tonight (7pm).

Aberdeen have scouts? I thought we just had Calderwood Jnr. There must be some decent talent in the Highland League that the Dons can tap into. We don't even seem to look into the lower Scottish divisions. We had our fingers burned under Paterson with this policy but with guys like Gomis, Swanson and Cowie effortlessly making the step up it's about time we stop rummaging around the Dutch and English sales racks and look a little closer to home.

Two seasons ago the Highland League top scorer, whom Joe Harper considers to be a great prospect, was attending Aberdeen University and his studies would have allowed him to train and be "coached" at Pittodrie. I understand that Scouts and Coaches who I know regularly watched the player tried to persuade Mr Calderwood to at least monitor him at the Club for a few weeks but this was rejected. Why ! Perhaps someone can ask the question at the forthcoming Fans Forum. The player has gone on to be the top scorer in American College soccer and will be returning there in a few weeks.

The Dons acutally dumped Paul two years ago. He got his head down and worked very hard with Cove to try and get himself noticed again, and it worked. I believe the Pittodrie hierachy suddenly started to take notice again towards the end of last season, but baulked at the fee Cove were asking.. perhaps questions DO need to be asked of the coaching staff and youth setup at the Dons! Good luck at Posh, Paul, from a Cove fan sorry to see you go, but pleased as punch you've got a dream move!
