Charlton turn up the heat on Coutts
Published:
THE race to sign Cove’s Paul Coutts is heating up after Charlton Athletic registered their interest in the talented midfielder.
The 19-year-old has also been the subject of an inquiry from a Scottish Premier League club, understood to be Hamilton.
Coutts is on trial at Peterborough, having previously trained with the English League One side last season and he played for an hour against a Liverpool X1 on Saturday.
Coutts produced an impressive display in a 4-1 victory for the Posh.
But Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson could be about to experience some serious competition for the Scottish non-league international’s signature.
A Cove spokesman said: “Charlton have stated an interest in Paul, while an SPL club made an inquiry this week as well.
“Peterborough are in pole position just now because he is already down there.
“But should they dither then I’m sure another club will step in.
“We expect things to move on this week.”
