New book on spooks by N-east ghost in-spectre
Writer spent four years ghoul-hunting

SPOOKY stories from throughout the North-east have been exposed in a new book.
Haunting tales from some of the area’s most famous buildings have been retold in The Haunted North.
The book, by Aberdonian author Graeme Milne, tells of the ghouls and ghosts spotted around the Granite City and in Aberdeenshire.
Haunted buildings include His Majesty's Theatre – home to the mischievous spirit of a stagehand decapitated by a stage hoist – and Provost Skene’s House, where one visitor saw a female ghost emerge from a fireplace.
Ghostly goings-on within the First Bus King Street depot are less well known.
Legend has it that a captain with the Gordon Highlanders took his own life to avoid being shipped overseas – and remains trapped in the building.
Author Graeme Milne, 43, said he wanted his book to delve a little deeper than most other ghost books.
He said: “This is really a book of experiences from everyday people. Some of the places we have spoken about, like His Majesty’s Theatre, are renowned for being haunted. Others are less well known.”
Mr Milne spent four years writing and researching his book.
And he described his first spooky experience at just 21.
He said: “My first brush with the paranormal happened when house sitting in Dunfermline.
“I bedded down for the night. After a while I was rudely awoken by the dual sensations of both my feet being grabbed and pulled, and my head meeting the floor with a none-too-gentle crack.”
He then noticed he had moved about three feet from the wall.
The book will be launched on Wednesday at one of the city’s spooky locations – Ma Cameron’s.
The Aberdeen-based author has already begun researching a second book.
