GRANDFATHER today made a second court appearance in connection with the murder of an Aberdeen woman and her grandchildren.
John Walsh, 69, has been charged in relation to the axe murder of his wife Jean, who was born and brought up in the city.
He appeared in court in Australia where the couple had a family together.
The case has now been adjourned for a further six weeks.
Walsh was arrested and charged after the bodies of his wife and grandchildren were found dead in their Cowra home.
His daughter Shelly was also seriously injured and has been in hospital since the incident, which happened last Sunday.
Police officer Shelly, 31, has now undergone surgery and was due to be released from the New South Wales hospital today.
Powis-born Jean, 52, was allegedly murdered in a frenzied axe attack in her home in Cowra, a sleepy district in New South Wales.
The bodies of her grandchildren, Kevin, 7, and Jaime, 5, were also found in the house.
Kevin died from a blow to the back of the head and Jaime drowned.
Walsh was arrested in Hay, a town four-hours west of Cowra, last Monday night.
Walsh’s solicitor, who refused to be named, sought a six week adjournment in court today.
Walsh, who appeared via a video link from Junee Correctional Centre, told the court he was hard of hearing and asked the magistrate to keep his voice “in the mid range”.
Magistrate Anthony Murray adjourned the case to August 25.
No application was made for bail and Walsh was remanded in custody.
