A MURDERED Aberdeen woman’s daughter, allegedly attacked by her dad with an axe, is expected to be released from hospital within days.
Shelly Walsh’s two young children were also killed in their grandparents’ home.
The mum was taken to hospital after she was managed to reach a neighbour’s house.
Her aunt Christina Boswell, of Aberdeen’s Pittodrie area, today said: “She is doing well and is to be discharged from hospital on Monday.”
And she is to get home to arrange the funerals for her mum and two children killed in Australia.
Powis-born woman Jean Walsh, 52, was murdered in a frenzied axe attack in her home in the sleepy Cowra district of New South Wales.
The bodies of her grandchildren, Kevin, 7, and Jaime, 5, were also found in the house.
Kevin died from a blow to the back of the head and Jaime drowned.
Their mother Shelly, 31, a senior police officer, was struck on the head with an axe but survived.
Shelly’s dad John Walsh, 69, has since appeared in court charged with the triple murder and an attempted murder.
Mrs Boswell plans to fly to Australia in a week’s time.
She said Shelly had undergone surgery in Nepean Hospital.
“She has had her operation,” said Christina, 59, who grew up with Jean and their five other siblings.
“The surgeons have put in a titanium plate in her head. She still has a gap in her head and is to get a protective guard.
“Once she is out, she will be able to make arrangements for the funerals.”
Jean studied at Sunnybank Primary and Powis Secondary before taking a job in Bisset’s bookshop in Old Aberdeen.
Aged 16, she left for a new dream life in Australia.
She married Irishman John and they had three children.
Neighbours said the pair had been withdrawn since their son Scott committed suicide a few years ago and since John was diagnosed with cancer.
Six hours after the alleged attack, John was caught 250 miles away in the town of Hay, where he had checked into a hotel.
He is due to appear in court again later this month.
