A WOMAN suffered serious injuries after being hit by a lorry in Aberdeen.
The unnamed woman was struck by the vehicle on School Road.
She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A spokeswoman for the hospital said: “The woman was admitted with serious injuries, but that is all we can say at the moment.”
A Seaton Road resident said she heard the accident happen yesterday afternoon.
She said: “I was just sitting in my living room when I heard a loud crash and the sound of tyres screeching.
“I ran to the window and looked out and there was a girl lying on the road.
“She didn’t seem to be moving.”
A man who lives nearby told how he came across the scene.
He said: “I was walking along Seaton Road when I heard the crash.
“I ran round and the lassie was lying in front of the lorry.
“She did not look good.
“Quite a crowd formed, watching the police and the ambulance dealing with the accident.
“I just hope she is okay.”
The occupants of the lorry refused to comment on the accident.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: “We were called out to School Road after a lorry collided with an adult female pedestrian.”
Police have started an investigation.
Officers closed the road at around 1.30pm and it remained shut until 6.20pm.
