AN ABERDEEN woman and her two grandchildren have been slain in a horrific murder in Australia.
Jean Walsh, who grew up in Aberdeen, was killed with an axe and her grandchildren were drowned in the bath at her home.
The 52-year-old’s husband John – said to be suffering from dementia – has been charged with murdering them.
He has also been accused of attempting to murder their daughter Shelly , 31, after allegedly bludgeoning her with an axe.
Today Jean’s sister, Christina Boswell, who grew up with Jean in Aberdeen’s Powis area, told how Shelly had left her children – Kevin, 7, and five-year-old Jaime – with her parents while she went to work.
When she returned to the house in Cowra, 155 miles west of Sydney, she discovered a scene of horror and bloodshed.
She said: “When Shelly got back her dad was sitting playing games on the computer so she asked where her mum was.
“John said she was in the bedroom.
“The sight she found was just horrible. She had been attacked from behind and there was blood everywhere.
“She had been struck three times with an axe.
“Shelly was screaming for her kids and running around looking for them. She found them in the bathroom. They had been drowned.”
