Drink drivers snared by police
Court told of motorists over limit

AN ABERDEEN man was caught driving while more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
RONALD PATERSON, 43, had a breath alcohol count of 114mg – the limit is 35mg.
He was stopped on January 27 last year at Beach Boulevard, Aberdeen.
Paterson, whose address was given as 1 Jamaica Street, Aberdeen, also admitted driving without a licence.
Sentence was deferred for reports.
JAMES O’PREY, 46, got behind the wheel after drinking so much alcohol he was more than five times the limit.
He admitted driving a car with 182mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
He drove on Union Street, Alford Place, Albyn Place and Queens Road on June 29 this year.
O’Prey, whose address was given in court papers as 41 Park Street, Wallasey, Merseyside, also admitted driving without a licence or insurance and failing to stop and give his details after an accident.
Defence agent Stuart Beveridge said O’Prey, who had been working in the Aberdeen area as a site manager, had been working for the last 22 days and was having a rare day off.
He said he had been out for a meal when a friend wanted to go home and he had given the man a lift.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood disqualified O’Prey from driving for three years and fined him £1,280.
VECESLAVS DEKANICKIS admitted driving while more than double the limit.
The court heard the Latvian, who has been in the country for two months, was drinking on his one day off in a week.
He was caught in Menzies Road, Aberdeen, on June 29 this year, with 90mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
Dekanickis, 23, whose address was given as 43 Menzies Road, Aberdeen, was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £600.
