Food Story: Rose Street, Aberdeen
Published:
AFTER a wander round Doonies Farm my pal and I were ready for some grub.
And for a change we wanted something healthy that would complement all the fresh air we got on our outing.
Strolling down Rose Street we stumbled across a little organic cafe – Food Story.
My friend ordered a Mediterranean-style sandwich. Soft brown bread was filled with tuna mayonnaise and laced with tangy chunks of sun-dried tomatoes.
Hefty dollops of mayonnaise are too much for my pal, but here the balance was perfect.
I went for an Italian-style salad. A generous portion of fresh leaves was served with plump cherry tomatoes, wedges of cucumber, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh rounds of mozzarella – healthy and delicious.
My friend went for some Peter Rabbit apple and pear juice with her meal while I tried the organic apple juice.
It was a little sour, but after the initial tang it was fantastically refreshing.
To complete our meal, which cost just over £11, my veggie pal got a treat with some vegetarian jelly bears.
In all we were delighted with our lucky stumble across a cafe which is now pegged to be one of our favourite haunts in the city.
