Pair face murder attempt charge

A MAN and woman were due to appear in court today in connection with an alleged attempted murder in Aberdeen.

The pair, both from the city, were detained by police.

A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were due to appear from custody at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in connection with the alleged attack.

The alleged victim was said to have been assaulted in the Torry area.

The 27-year-old man was found collapsed in a pool of blood in the Walker Road area.

He was in a critical condition when paramedics took him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Residents and councillors in Torry reacted with shock after the alleged victim was discovered with a deep wound in his chest. Police confirmed that he remained in a critical condition in the city hospital today.

Police chiefs revealed they were treating the alleged stabbing as attempted murder.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “A 25-year-old male and a 22-year-old female, both from Aberdeen, are in custody regarding the attempted murder in Torry.”

The alleged victim was believed to have been attacked in Walker Lane. He then managed to make his way to Walker Road.

He was found by a member of the public around 7.45pm on Thursday.

The area was cordoned off by police while officers examined the scene.

A team of around 20 officers, including search and forensic teams, were involved in the inquiry.

Extensive house-to-house inquiries were also carried out on the night of the alleged attack and the following day.

It was not yet known what kind of weapon was used in the alleged attack.
