Nicholson could return to training with Dons
Published:
BARRY Nicholson will be offered the chance to train with Aberdeen if he fails to find a new club by Monday.
The Dons report back for the rigours of pre-season training at the start of next week.
And boss Jimmy Calderwood wouldn’t have any worries about letting Nicholson join in with the rest of his squad.
The former Dunfermline player is determined to try his luck down south, but has yet to find a new club.
He has moved a step closer to joining Preston, but Sheffield Wednesday are still interested.
Calderwood: “I haven’t heard from Barry but if he wanted to join us for pre-season then I wouldn’t have a problem with that.
“He’s a great lad who has never caused me any problems.”

Why just offer him the chance to train.... GIVE him a job.... quality player... get him back on the books, if we don`t and rumours are true he`s going to be an ex-player coming back to haunt the DANDIES....

Why should we offer Barry Nicholson training facilities until he finds a club? He is an EX-DONS player because he chose to leave us. Unfortunately, its part and parcel of the modern game when you turn down an offer of a contract with a club. He did great with us when he was here and I wish him all the best, but he's made his bed so he should go lie in it.

I don't agree with letting him train with AFC. He was offered a new deal and it was him, not AFC, that decided to go elsewhere. I would have liked Barry, probably like most dons fans, to stay on but he has chosen not to and we all move on. As for "haunting the dandies", if he dos go to another Scottish club then he is a failiure. Anywhere outside of the old firm would be a step down or sideways.

He said he's leaving and wants to try England - so tell him to go and train there! Why should we help him maintain his fitness for another club!! Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Hearts!!

I never though I'd see the day but I agree with every comment. He's made his bed, let him go lie in it.
