Real rule out £80 million Ronaldo bid
Published:
REAL Madrid president Ramon Calderon has ruled out spending £80million on Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reports have claimed Madrid are willing to smash their world-record transfer fee to land the Manchester United ace.
They splashed £46million on Zinedine Zidane in 2001 and it has been claimed they are ready to pay almost double that for the Portuguese star.
Calderon said: “There is no ‘Cristiano Ronaldo case’ because Manchester United do not want to sell.
“In any case, Real Madrid will never pay 100 million Euros for anybody.”
United, who recently reported the Primera Liga champions to FIFA over what they considered to be attempts to unsettle the player, have constantly stated that the Portugal international is not for sale at any price.
Sir Alex Ferguson is to hold talks with the winger when he comes back to the UK now that his Euro 2008 campaign is over.
