Slow Boat: Hardgate, Aberdeen

MEMO to self: never play football after eating a Chinese takeaway – particularly from the Slow Boat.
Not that there was anything wrong with the food, mind, it was more that ... it was too good.
I’d planned to take it easy and only have something light, but She Who Must Be Obeyed wanted a special starter (£7.20).
Two spring rolls, two chicken skewers, two spare ribs and lashings of seaweed; it was the perfect way to begin our feast. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the sauce accompanying the chicken went down a treat.
My main course of beef in satay sauce with rice (£5.50) was also just too good – although it could have done with a bit more sauce.
My girlfriend’s favourite chilli beef with noodles (£5.70) quickly disappeared as usual!
The only bad thing about the evening? I lost my football, and I’m blaming the Chinese!
