BURNLEY today confirmed they have agreed to sell striker Kyle Lafferty to Rangers.

The Northern Ireland international will join the Gers for an initial £3million, with former Aberdeen target Alan Gow moving in the opposite direction.

Lafferty will be the second striker to move to Ibrox this week should he pass a medical at Murray Park today.

Gers boss Walter Smith ahs already completed the signing of Andrius Velicka.

The Lithuanian forward has agreed terms on a three-year deal with Rangers, and will join up with his new employers on July 14 at their training camp in Holland.

Former Hearts player Velicka will return to Scotland just six months after his move to Norwegian side Viking Stavanger.

Viking sporting director Egil Ostenstad admitted that once Rangers expressed an interest he was powerless to stop Velicka moving.

He said: “It wouldn’t have been right for us to block a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“He will earn considerably more than he earns at Viking.”

Lafferty had long been a target for Celtic, but the Parkhead side’s offer of £2.65m plus add-ons, including Derek Riordan, has been trumped by their Old Firm rivals.

Celtic have now withdrawn their interest and the 20-year-old is ready to become a Rangers player.

The Light Blues have already added Kenny Miller to their attack this summer as they look to recapture the SPL title.

But the addition of three fresh forwards for the new term will cast doubts on the futures of Kris Boyd, Daniel Cousin and Jean-Claude Darcheville, who could all be on the way out.
