Blue Elephant: George Street, Aberdeen

Published:

WITH a friend heading to America for the summer I decided a good send-off was in order.

Being huge curry fans we decided to go large with one of the Blue Elephant’s set menus at a not so jumbo sized price of £19.75.

The chicken pakura got things off to an excellent start. Succulent chicken covered in a light and zingy batter, it was a winner.

My friend decided to brave one of the hotter dishes available on the menu, the chicken Ceylon with pulao rice.

The chicken itself was perfect and covered in a thick sauce full of coconut, lemon and a healthy helping of chilli that had him reaching for the cold water.

I took the sensible, and milder, route with a massala. Packed with flavour, if not packing a punch on the tastebuds, this was a real treat.

The large, fluffy naan bread helped us mop up the last of the more-ish sauces. We’re already planning a “welcome back from the US” when he returns.
