SCOTLAND rugby skipper Jason White today urged North-east rugby fans to make Pittodrie a sell-out.

The Scotland rugby team will face Canada in an Autumn Test at Pittodrie on Saturday November 22.

It is only the second time the Scotland squad have played at Pittodrie, with the previous match against the Barbarians a sell out in 2005.

White said: “Hopefully the North-east fans can come out in force like they did against the Barbarians and make it a sell out.

“Unfortunately I missed the Baa-Baa’s game because I had a broken thumb.

“However I was commentating on the match and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“I am sure the fans will pack out the stadium again.”

Former Cults Academy pupil White led the Scots in last year’s World Cup and RBS Six Nations campaign.

The towering forward, 29, hopes the return of international football will act as a catalyst to produce more Scotland stars of the future.

“The North-east has produced a lot of internationals in recent years such as Chris Cusiter, Moray Low and myself.

“Hopefully the Canada game can be the first step towards unearth more young players in the North-east who can play at Scotland professional player.”

Aberdeen was gripped by rugby fever in May 2005 when the SRU rolled into town.

Pushed on by a euphoric Pittodrie crowd the Scots registered an historic 38-7 win over the star-studded invitational side.

“There has been an upsurge in rugby in the North-east since that Baa-Baas game,” he said.

“It gave kids the chance to watch rugby up close and see some really great athletes.

“That inspired them to take up the game and hopefully the Canada match can have a similar impact.

“Scotland won that game well, Pittodrie is a lucky pitch for us so we want to get another win.”

Tickets for the clash are on sale now.
