Yu Takeaway: Langstane Place, Aberdeen
Published:
DESPITE living only five minutes away from Yu, I’d never noticed it did takeaways until recently.
So 10 minutes later and I was in possession of our food for the night.
We started with phoenix-tailed prawns (£3.50) and old-favourite Mandarin spring rolls (£2.60).
The spring rolls, with ham, shrimp and beansprout filling, weren’t greasy in the slightest and packed with flavour, while the massive juicy prawns went brilliantly with the sweet, sticky chilli sauce.
My king prawn chow mein (£5.60) was very generous on the prawn front and the vegetables and beansprouts were satisfyingly crunchy but the sauce was a bit too gloopy for my taste.
My partner’s honey chilli chicken (£4.80) was nicely cooked and had huge lumps of tender chicken. But the dark brown honey sauce was too far removed from the bright honey chilli sauce she knows and loves.
Overall, after the magnificent starters the meal was a slight disappointment, but I would definitely go back.
