Gurkha Kitchen: George Street, Aberdeen

WITH a friend coming round for dinner and with cooking skills like mine, a takeaway is not an option – it’s a necessity.
Cue this small Nepalese takeaway, a place that entices you in with the exotic smell of herbs and spices.
It even has the added bonus of being not too heavy on the pocket. Our set menu for two only cost us £17.50 and offered the wide range of tastes we were seeking.
The starters of vegetable pakora and grilled chicken with tikka spices were delicious, a welcome prelude to the main.
My Mayalu chicken, a beautifully mild creamy coconut curry, was perfect with my pilau rice.
My friend, being the more adventurous one, tried the Everest chicken, a spicy Nepalese dish full of exotic herbs. It hit the heights both in flavour and in fiery full-on chilli bite. A dish not for the faint hearted but thoroughly enjoyable.
Now all I need are more mates to visit to I can make more trips to the Gurkha Kitchen.
