Charlotte Bar: Charlotte Street, Aberdeen
Published:
AS A new recruit to Aberdeen I was keen to sample a few eateries.
I plumped for Shelley Leigh’s restaurant in the Charlotte Bar and was greeted warmly by the helpful staff.
While waiting for my friend I sipped a large glass of Chenin Blanc (£4). Once my pal arrived and we were seated we perused the more than adequate menu which offers a good selection of dishes.
Forewarned about the large portions, we avoided starters.
Instead, I enjoyed an 8oz fillet steak served on a sizzling platter with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms with a separate portion of chips (£16.95). It was accompanied by a fine Diane sauce (£2.80).
My friend opted for chicken fajitas, strips of meat with peppers and onions served on a sizzling platter and accompanied by a salad, a selection of sauces and chips (£9.95).
Both dishes were ample in size and beautifully presented and a testimony to the quality of the meals was that we both cleared our plates.
We finished with a slab of Lumpy Bumpy Pudding (£4) – delicious.
The total bill, which included two coffees, came to £45.50.
Satisfied and stuffed we left promising we would return.
