Wok Wok: Crown Street, Aberdeen
Published:
MY FRIEND had been hitting the books big time for an exam and deserved a treat.
So this wasn’t a time to leave anything to chance.
This was a time for Wok Wok!
Forgive the dramatics, but I’ve been a regular at this place for years and have never had a bad meal.
We plumped for the house special combination starter (£4.90) which had a slice of prawn toast, seaweed, one chicken satay on a skewer, two deep fried wan ton, one barbecue spare rib and one vegetable roll.
But something unusual happened – the prawn toast was not very fine at all!
Dry, overcooked – it landed in the bin after one bite. Oh dear, after all my bravado! Still, the rest of the meal showed this to be but a blip in an otherwise sumptuous feast.
The beef in ginger and spring onion (£5.10) was delightfully fresh and light. My study-happy friend’s chicken szechuan (£5) was a fiery treat.
Two portions of fried rice (each £1.70) and a pancake roll (£1.90) took it to £21.60. And it’s still my favourite Chinese takeaway.
