Argentina tour vital for Scots

Published:

SCOTLAND head coach Frank Hadden has revealed how next month’s trip to South America has taken on added importance with results counting towards the 2011 World Cup.

Torphins-born Moray Low has been called up to the 30-man national squad for the first time for the trip to Argentina.

And with world rankings going towards seedings for the next World Cup, Hadden is looking at the tour with a different mindset.

He said: “At first we thought about the tour being a developmental tour but that will not be the case any more.

“It suddenly increased the importance of the two Tests in Argentina.

“The last time we went on tour to South Africa we took only 26 players and a small management team.

“This time we are taking 30 players and a large management team.”

Jason White misses out through injury, while there is no place for Chris Cusiter.

The Scots will play two Test matches, the first in Rosario on June 7 and a week later in Buenos Aires.
