Big Eck can’t save City from dreaded drop

ABERDEEN Legend Alex McLeish was unable to save Birmingham City from the drop despite a 4-1 win over Blackburn.
The former Rangers and Scotland boss will now rebuild for life in the Championship.
But he may have to do that without co-owner David Sullivan who has vowed to quit the club.
David Gold may also step down as chairman after the abuse aimed towards the directors box from fans once it became clear there would be no escape from the drop.
Fans chanted ‘the board must go’ as wins for Reading and Fulham meant City’s 4-1 win over Blackburn was in vain.
Sullivan said: “These people, the fans, don’t know anything about business.
“They know nothing about football.
“I’ve had enough. I don’t want to be here next season.
“Please buy me out David Gold. There are five or six clubs out there who would welcome me with open arms. It is time for me to go to a new club.”
