Russell set for permanent Plymouth deal
Published:
FORMER Dons skipper Russell Anderson looks set to stay with Plymouth Argyle.
Scotland international Anderson joined Sunderland a year ago in a £1million deal, but was sent out on loan to Argyle earlier this season.
The Championship side now want the Aberdonian to stay for good.
They have opened talks with Anderson and Sunderland in an effort to thrash out a deal.
Anderson failed to nail down a first-team spot at Sunderland, and concede a penalty in his Premier League debut against Wigan after coming on as a substitute.
The 29-year-old then had a disastrous first start as teh Black Cats crashed 3-0 to Luton Town in the Carling Cup before rupturing ankle ligaments in the same game.
After recovering from injury, Anderson moved to Plymouth in February to join up with former Dons team-mate Chris Clark.
The Championship side, who are managed by Ellon-born Paul Sturrock have also opened talks with Derby midfielder Gary Teale about a permanent move.
Scotland international Teale is currently on loan from the Rams.

Think Big Russ bottled it really but even some of the best players take time to settle. It's a shame because if he'd been given time by Keane to find his feet in the Premiership then I think Sunderland would have had a top quality defender who reads the game superbly. Bring him back JC!!
