Corona Express: Bridge Street, Aberdeen

AS THE usual row rumbled on over what type of takeaway to choose ... ay caramba! ... I suddenly remembered that I had a menu for the new Mexican grill in the city centre.

And delighted at being presented with something different, everyone agreed it just had to be given a try.

My husband and I both chose from the grill section. I opted for chicken fajita (£5.80 for two skewers) while my better half decided on the Margarita chicken (£5.80 for two skewers). Both came in trays with small portions of Mexican rice and refried beans, and an even smaller portion of salad. The big chunks of chicken were juicy and tender but were lacking in the Mexican “hit” of flavour we’d hoped for.

This could not be said of my daughter’s choice. Her ham pizza pocket (£4.20) – similar to a calzone – was filled with ham and bursting with sweet and juicy tomato sauce topped with cheese.
