The Dutch Mill: Queen’s Road, Aberdeen
Published:
THE Boss has raved about the Dutch Mill for ages, so I thought it was finally time to give it a shot myself.
We decided to see what their evening set-up was like.
Sat in an attractive, airy conservatory away from the bustling bar, our order was quickly taken by the pleasant staff.
I opted for the prawn cocktail to start (£4.70), and soon had a dish packed with prawns and salad in front of me.
The sauce was not too watery, and had a nice, tangy taste to it, while the accompanying brown bread soaked up the remaining juices from the prawns.
My girlfriend’s deep fried mushrooms with garlic dip (£4.50) also got her meal off to a good start.
She limbered up for her main course of beef stroganoff (£9.30).
Huge strips of wonderfully tender and juicy beef lapped up the creamy sauce which was laden with onions, spices and herbs.
My main course, Strathdon chicken (also £9.30), was simply beautiful.
The chicken breasts had a smoky taste, while the creamy sauce laced with haggis was divine.
The Boss was right about the place.
With a pint of lager and a glass of wine, the total bill came to £33.60.
