A RARE breeds farm threatened with closure could be given a last-minute reprieve by council bosses.

Doonies Farm has shut as part of Aberdeen City Council’s £27 million budget cuts along with other facilities across the city on April 1.

But campaigners could be given an extra 60 days by Aberdeen Council to come up with a business plan to help fund it.

The farm on Coast Road in Aberdeen’s Nigg area, needs about £2,000 a week to operate, will stay open to the public while its supporters try to find a way to save it.

A report goes to the council next week suggesting it remains open for 60 days while campaigners prepare a business plan.

Albyn House in Dee Street has also been saved from closure after health bosses stepped in.

The city council had decided to cut its £400,000 funding over the next three years for the centre.

But NHS Grampian bosses has agreed to provide £40,000 extra funding until the end of July.

The health authority already provides £212,000 a year to fund Albyn House.
