Animals sold off as farm to close

HUNDREDS of animals are to be sold off to the highest bidders as Aberdeen City Council shuts down its city farm.
Doonies Farm is expected to close within weeks as part of the council’s plans to save £30 million from its overstretched budget over the next three years.
The farm will have to sell off about 300 animals.
Many of them will end up in rare breed auctions or private sales to farmers, although the council insists the animals would not be sold for slaughter.
