AN ABERDEEN model is hoping to take the catwalk world by storm in a national competition.

Ricky Gabbriellini, from Kincorth in Aberdeen, has strutted his way to the final 17 of next month’s Top Model UK contest.

Ricky, whose parents are Scottish and Italian, hopes to realise his dream by winning a modelling contract at the London event.

The 27-year-old said: “I’m really looking forward to it.

“Winners have had the opportunity to do stuff for Vogue Italia and London Fashion Week, which I would love to do.

“Being a Scot of Italian blood and very interested in culture and Italian high fashion, it has become a real passion of mine.

“I speak fluent Italian, Spanish and English, so it would be a dream to travel around the world and make a living out of it.”

A panel of judges will decide who is the overall winner, combined with a public vote, with all money donated to Children with Cancer UK.

The engineering co-ordinator added: “Being an Aberdeen lad, I am hoping the people will get behind me and give me their vote.”

The Men’s final is to take place on Saturday, April 13, at the London Hilton Metropole.
