ALEX Ferguson taking over as manager in 1978 proved to be the turning point in Gordon Strachan’s Aberdeen FC career.
He had struggled to get established under Billy McNeill, the man who brought him to the club from Dundee.
Ferguson, however, was to reap the benefits of McNeill’s vision that Gordon was capable of becoming an Aberdeen FC great.
Over the next six years, Ferguson’s team would dominate Scottish football and conquer Europe – with their flame-haired midfielder one of the star performers.
Gordon admits Ferguson played a huge part in what proved to be a magical period in his career.
