AN ABERDEEN receptionist was left red-faced after a string of e-mails she sent her fiancé at work went viral.
Melanie Anderson of Integrated Subsea Services (ISS) in Aberdeen included the explicit chain of e-mails underneath a message to other colleagues saying “sandwich van is here”.
Mum-of-one Melanie, originally from Northfield, was messaging her fiance of a year Eric Knisz, who is a senior inspection co-ordinator at the company.
The e-mail chain ended up being sent far beyond her workplace and into the inboxes of people in Egypt, Australia, the USA and many more countries.
Tweets with the hashtag #sandwichvan were trending worldwide yesterday.
The couple’s HR director says they have been left “mortified” by the incident and “appropriate action” has been taken.
The couple are due to get married at the end of the year.
Bruce Webster, HR director of ISS said: “Personal e-mails are not encouraged at work and we have taken the appropriate action with the members of staff concerned.
“They are absolutely mortified by the content of the e-mail trail which was meant to be private and apologise for any offence caused by it going outwith our organisation.”
When approached by the Evening Express Melanie did not wish to comment.
