ANIMAL welfare chiefs today appealed for information after a terrapin was found trapped in ice at a play park.

An 11-year-old boy made the discovery in a frozen puddle in a park at Aberdeen’s Seaton Place.

After breaking the ice to free the creature, the Seaton Primary School pupil took the terrapin to his teacher, who contacted the Scottish SSPCA.

The terrapin was in very poor condition and was taken to a vet before being moved to the SSPCA’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Drumoak.

She has been named Theodora.
