A FORMER accountant has admitted embezzling more than £1.2 million from an Aberdeen oil services company.
David Johnston admitted taking the cash over a 10-year period from Bridge of Don-based Capelrig Ltd.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty at Peterhead Sheriff Court to siphoning off £1,246,917 between 1998 and 2008.
During the hearing it was claimed two other people were involved in the scam. There will now be a proof hearing to establish where the money ended up.
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence until tomorrow at Peterhead Sheriff Court to hear more details of the transactions involved.
Johnston, whose address was given in court papers as 9 Beattie Place, Laurencekirk, is a former treasurer of Aberdeen-based Attic Theatre and directed several pantomimes and musicals for the group.
