A DIVER today praised “heroic” colleagues on the Bibby Topaz after he became stranded 300ft under the North Sea with no air.

Deep sea saturation diver Chris Lemons, 32, spent 40 minutes trapped on the sea bed when his oxygen cable snapped 115 miles east of Peterhead.

Crew mates from the Bibby Topaz launched a daring rescue in a diving bell, saving the life of the brave diver who was just moments from death.
