Aberdeen set for £5 million windfall after landing Scottish Open

THE Aberdeen economy is set for a £5 million boost after Royal Aberdeen Golf Club was announced as a host for the Scottish Open.

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club is to host the prestigious European Tour event in 2014.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to travel to the North-east for the event, pumping millions of pounds into the economy.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: “This is a great boost for Royal Aberdeen. I am sure they will be dancing in the clubhouse.”
