STEPHEN Hughes believes that he can still have an international future with Scotland.

The Aberdeen FC midfielder is confident that a run of games for the club could see him make his way into the squad.

Hughes won his solitary Scotland cap in a friendly against Japan in 2009.

Hughes said: “I still want to play for Scotland. Of course everybody does.

“I just want to focus on staying fit and helping Aberdeen and hopefully staying in the team.”

Hughes was set to return for Aberdeen FC against Inverness Caley FC today after a couple of weeks out with a hamstring injury picked up against Greenock Morton.
