ABERDEEN City Council were today urged to follow the Viking Stavanger blueprint – and back Aberdeen FC’s bid for a new stadium.
When Viking were looking to relocate, Stavanger city chiefs gifted them the land to build a 16,300-capacity stadium.
The city municipality also gifted 50 million krone (£5.5m) towards the 160m krone (£17.5m) building costs. And the result? Rocketing attendances, a rejuvenated club, a profit on the ground sold and a former waste area of the city regenerated.
