DEVASTATED residents were left to pick up the pieces after their homes were ruined by flooding.

More than two feet of water poured into properties in Stirling Village near Peterhead, destroying valuable and cherished possessions.

It was the third time houses in Peterhead had been flooded in the area since 1999.

SEPA issued a flood warning, which lasts through today for the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire following heavy downpours.

The Met Office has also issued a “yellow” rain warning.

A spokeswoman said there will be some potentially heavy downpours in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire areas, with a chance of thunderstorms in the south of the region.
