A BYLAW could be introduced to ban beggars from Aberdeen city centre, the Evening Express can reveal today.

Aberdeen City Council’s Labour’s spokesman Willie Young warned the time for a “softly-softly” approach had ended.

The law as it stands prohibits only “aggressive” begging.

One homeless beggar, John Malone, 49, said: “I really don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t beg. I think it’s terrible that they would do this.

“This is the only way I have to make some money.”
