AN ABERDEEN drug user who had not driven for 15 years got behind the wheel of a car while high on cannabis – and smashed it into a tree.
John Riach was banned from driving in 1996 for three years and made no attempt to get his licence back when his ban expired.
But on Christmas Eve last year, the 41-year-old decided to drive a car to his mum’s house, but crashed within minutes of setting off, Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard.
Riach, whose address was given as 16 Corthan Crescent, Aberdeen, admitted driving carelessly, driving without a licence, possession of cannabis and driving while unfit and will be sentenced next month.
